TH 440 Study in Design or Technology
Spring 2024
Instructor: Nick Quinn
Concept Statement: George Brant’s, Grounded is a story about a pilot in the US Air Force and the transitions she goes through in her career, both physically and emotionally. The sound design for grounded will tie into both the emotions that the main character is feeling, especially when she begins to lose her grip on reality, as well as create ambiance to help immerse the audience into the play.
Sample Sound Cues
I used a library of sound effects to combine sounds and edit them in Adobe Audition. Click play on the tabs below to listen!
Sample Soundscapes
Two examples of soundscapes I created and edited in Adobe Audition to demonstrate knowledge of the software and of making soundscapes.
Sound Design Project: I was responsible for choosing a script from a given list, and creating a theoretical sound design for said script. I created a concept statement, cue sheet, and real sound effects for each cue, all complied into a Qlab file. For this project, I chose the play Grounded, by George Brant.
