Concept Statement
9-5, The Musical is about Violet, Doralee, and Judy and their struggle with stereotypes against women in an office setting. It is about their struggles at work with their boss Franklin Hart, their personal struggles, and how they rebel from these stereotypes and take the world for themselves. It feels, energetic, explosive, and fun! Therefore, the lighting design will help to establish the location and time of day the actors are in by using realistic lighting for real locations. The lighting design will also work to break us out of the regular lighting when the songs happen, this will represent the energetic, explosive part of the musical.
