Concept Statement

Ride the Cyclone is about 6 children who died while riding the Cyclone rollercoaster at the Wonderville Amusement Park. These children then compete for chance to return to life in the Amazing Karnaks game, where they must convince the other members to vote for their revival.

It feels, mysterious, cold, and ominous, but also comedic.

Therefore, the scenic design will create a space that stays true to Wonderville, but centers around Karnaks game, creating a space for each character to have their moment.

Conceptual Phase

My pre-production research was done through gathering concept images with qualities that I felt reflected the distressed environment. I also made rough sketches that helped to get my ideas onto paper and better communicate with the director and design team. A 3/8”-1’ scale model was the final pre-production step.
